Nitrogen in Tires

Hello all,

I have been doing some research and I wish to share a tip with you that may aid in preserving tire life while minimizing time spent at the air hose.

It has come to our attention that Nitrogen is being used to inflate tires on aircraft, cars, transport trucks, and RV's.

It has also been used in various vehicle tires for years.  Companies like Jaguar, Ford, GM, and others have been making this solution available to consumers.

The benefits of its use are many.  Nitrogen being devoid of Oxygen contains zero moisture which can preserve tire life as moisture exposure is a contributing factor to tire rot and failure.  Obviously, this form of breakdown occurs over years, and not months of exposure.

The next benefit of Nitrogen is that it is resistant to heat, rendering a cooler running tire.  Nitrogen does not expand or contract with outside temperatures rendering consistent tire pressure in heat of cold.

I was talking to a professional driver yesterday on the phone, and he informed me that he has to add air to all of the tires in the fall and release air in the spring.

Upon hearing of the benefits of Nitrogen, he stated that it would be well worth sharing and looking into.

Nitrogen is available at most tire shops, car dealerships, or transfer truck dealerships.

It should cost between $10 - $12 per tire.

Nitrogen is added through an exchanger wherein air is released and simultaneously replaced with Nitrogen.  They do not need to jack the vehicle or truck up, as the exchange is simultaneous resultant in the tire withstanding its load during the exchange process.

It takes approximately 5 minutes per tire.

Has anyone out there used Nitrogen?  Please share with us your experience!

Weighit Weighs In

Comment:

For almost 5 years I've been weighing RVs by wheel position. I travel to various RV shows and rallies. In that time I've heard horror stories about failed tires and the amount of damage they can cause. Overloading and under inflation are the major causes of tire failure. I have always promoted the use of tire pressure monitoring systems, and when I saw this system that also showed temperature, I was sold. It is amazing to watch the monitor show the pressures increase as the temperatures of the tire increases. I tracked this company down and asked if I could be a rep for them. The system almost sells itself. Anyone that has had tire issues knows of the expense involved and the cost of this system is probably cheaper than the repairs. Thanks for supplying such a great system, and keeping the costs so reasonable.

Ford Master Technician Weighs In..

Working in the car business for over 15 years you see alot of new products come and go.

When the dealership I work at started installing the TST TPMS kit on commercial truck fleets I was at first skeptical.

We have installed several of these kits on F-250-F550's and also F-53 motor homes.

They are very easy to install and the quality rivals OEM style tire pressure monitoring systems.

Our customers have been very happy both with the cost and the performance of this product. i would recommend this to anyone.

In these uncertain economic times, one thing that we can all to to prevent tire failure and conserve fuel is simple... Check tires regularly and monitor them for consistent, proper inflaction...

To this end, we are including some feedback from a distributor candidate in KY:

"I am a lifetime trucking family member with over 30 years of experience. I know what it takes to stay successful in this very competitive industry. I have received many awards in my many years of truck related experience including OverDrive
Magazine's 2007 "Trucker of the Month" as well as one of 4 finalists for "Trucker of the Year". I operate the finest top-level
equipment in the car carrier industry as evidenced by this latest selection to the CAT Scales Limited Edition Super Trucks Collector Cards (th Edition for Fall 2008/2009. Also, I was recently chosen as one of a few customer-driven ads representing the Blue Beacon Truck Wash company on a national level. It would be considered an honor to be associated
with such a needful, helpful product as this. Thank you, Carl"

The pro's clearly appreciate the need for this quality product...

Keep your comments coming..

Thanks,

Barbara

Welcome

Hello all,

Welcome to the blog!  You will find interesting facts, stories from patrons, and periodic research and statistical data relevant to our product and the important service it provides.  You will also find periodic posts regarding the princesses in my life, my baby girls and our family experiences as we RV..

On a serious note, here is a recent road/toad story from a patron that is worthy of sharing..:

"I had a blow out on the car I was towing several years ago and had absolutely no indication I could detect.  A passing motorist flagged me and let me know I had a problem.  When I stopped the rear passenger side tire on the car was smoking and so hot I could not touch it.  It was just ready to catch fire.  I have not driven my Motor Home since without a tire monitoring system on the coach and the car in tow."

This misadventure comes from Rex D. in our neighbor state of Alabama.. Thank you for sharing with us.. This harrowing tale simply drives home that important role our system serves in todays market place..

Our systems do save lives, conserve fuel, and protect property...

Please visit our blog often as we will add to it consistently and very regularly... More importantly, please share your experiences in travel with us... We learn from everyone.
